CANTON, ME – Harold “Okie” Jones, 74, died Saturday, August 11, 2012, peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on the Jewett Hill Road, Canton, Maine. He was born in Rumford, Maine on May 27, 1938, a son of Samuel Harris Jones and V. Marguerite Russ, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford. He served in the U.S. Navy. Okie worked at the Bath Ship Yard as an electrician for many years. He was a member of the ACLJ and the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews. He was married in Canton, Maine in 2001 to Gloria Libby who survives of Canton. Other survives include Stepsons Jeffrey Kilbreth and wife Lisa of Albuquerque, NM and Scott Kilbreth and wife Jackie of Canton; step-grandchildren Katie and Joseph Kilbreth and companion Caitlin O’Connell and Libby Irish and husband Jason; step-great grandchild Jacob Irish; sisters Helen Maley of Mexico and Nora Babb of Plantersville, MS; brothers Walter of Rumford and Herman Jones of Sierra Vista, AZ; sister in law Alice Jones of Rhode Island. JONES – Harold “Okie” Jones, 74, died Saturday August 11, 2012 in Canton, Maine. A celebration of his life will be held from 2-4 Monday August 13, 2012 at the MEADER & SON FUNERAL HOME 3 Franklin Street, Rumford, Maine . A graveside service will be conducted 10 AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Canton, Maine with Pastor Steve Brownell officiating. Those who desire, please contribute to the Rumford Hospital, 420 Franklin Street, Rumford, ME 04276 in his memory.
