FRASER – Dorothy C. Fraser, 87, died Monday September 10, 2012 nine months after being diagnosed with cancer. A lifelong resident of Rumford, ME, Dot spent the last year making her home with family in Scarborough. She passed peacefully at home spending her final days with family and beloved friends. Born in Rumford, Maine on March 21, 1925 she was the daughter of Eugene and Florence (Larmey) Fraser. Dot was married September 1, 1950 to Alfred “Slim” Fraser and they spent 51 happy years together prior to “Slim’s” passing in 2001. Dot graduated from Stephens High School with the class of 1942, many of whom remained lifelong friends. She was a secretary at the Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford for nineteen years, followed by a similar role in the Rumford School system. Dot loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. She and “Slim” created a summer home at Webb Lake in Weld, ME that served as a gathering spot for all. Beyond her husband and children, Dot most enjoyed summers at “camp” and took great pleasure in welcoming new and old friends alike. Dorothy is survived by a son, Andrew and his wife Margaret of Johnson, VT; a daughter, Mary McEacharn and her husband Joseph of Scarborough, ME; a sister, Joan Watson and her husband Robert of Rumford; a niece Pam Luce and husband Fritz of Dixfield, ME; and nephews, Robert Watson and wife Debbie of Front Royal, VA, Thomas Watson and wife Brenda of Washougal, WA and John Watson and wife Lori of Vancouver, WA. FRASER - Mrs. Dorothy C. Fraser, 87, died in Scarborough, ME on September 10, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday September 17, 2012 at the Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius – St. John Church in Rumford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Rumford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Maine Children’s Cancer Program 100 US Route 1, Unit 107, Scarborough, ME 04074.
