Mary enjoyed her family above all else, especially family gatherings. She liked to be busy, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, making jewelry, gardening and snowmobiling. She loved the camp she owned on the shores of Nova Scotia and spent much of her summers there.
She had worked at the Livermore Shoe Factory for 10 years and at Diamond International in Peru for 20 years. She and her husband enjoyed rock hounding and from this hobby they founded the Swift River Gem Shop in Byron for which they were known for teaching people how to pan for gold. They also were responsible for the very first Rockhound Roundup in Oxford County, which a mineral show. Mary would make Christmas wreaths yearly for friends, family and to sell. For the past 20 years she enjoyed being part of the family business, Coos Canyon Rock & Gift.
One and a half years ago she moved to the Rumford Community Home and there she became an inspiration for so many residents. Her desire to always be busy and to give to others was appreciated there. She was responsible for the creation of the Knitting Circle and attended most of the Home’s events.
Mary was a strong willed, independent woman with an amazingly kind and giving heart. Her combination of kindness, sweetness, strength and spunk was appreciated by all who knew her. She will be immensely missed by her family and her friends.
